GIA ­ the Gemological Institute of America ­ was established in 1931 as the nonprofit educational resource for the gem and jewelry industry. With a staff of more than 500 dedicated professionals, GIA is committed to helping both the industry and the consuming public understand the dynamic world of gemology through its vast network of educational programs and services. By providing jewelers with the knowledge, tools and training to better serve the consumer, GIA strives to promote the integrity of the industry and secure the public's trust.

International Gemological Institute
I.G.I., the oldest institute of its kind in Antwerp, was set up in 1975 to cater to this growing need and, along with its sister laboratory in New York, is one of the leading gemmology institutes in the world. Today, a staff of just 3 has grown to over 140 dedicated to a policy of optimum quality in both Antwerp and New York. Hundreds of diamonds, colored stones and jewelry articles are examined every day at this long standing institution by highly qualified professionals. Up to now, over 1.3 million gems and jewels bearing the I.G.I. Report have been traded in more than 100 countries.
